Their Story
On June 1st, 1997, a little sound was heard somewhere in Meg's Place. I went
right away to see what it was, and it was a little creature I had never seen before.
I picked him up and soon got to calling him a nerd ( but in a nice way ) and he
lived on the net.. but after I found more and more, I decided that they needed a place to
live, so I gave them all a little home here at Meg's Place. After awhile, it was
clear that they were all getting a bit cramped together at Meg's Place ( it wasn't that
big then ) so I opened Adopt a Net Nerd so that they could each find a home on another
page on the net. Soon, many people took them into their web homes, and hence, that
was how they became Net Nerds.
My Story
A long time before Net Nerds first appeared on my site, Meg's Place, they had already
appeared many times in real life. Ok, well kind of. One day I was just drawing
on some paper, making different things. I began drawing little cartoons that I could
think of, and somehow, an early verison of a Net Nerd was born. I liked what I had
drawn so I continued to draw it and practice it once in awhile. One time I drew my
best friend Kristen metioned to me that it looked like those little candy Nerds from Willy
Wonka candy. They were right, so I decided that the name Net Nerd was only fitting
even though I didn't realize that when I made them. Ever since I had found out about
cyberpets on the net, I had wanted to make my own, because I thought it was a great
idea. So I realized one day that the little cartoon I had been drawing for so long
would make a great cyberpet. So I scanned in a verison I really liked and added some
colors and cleaned up the picture. On June 1st, 1997, I put 9 different colored Net
Nerds up - purple, orange, dark blue, light blue, red, green, white, grey &
black. A few months later I was talking to one of my friends ( he really likes cows
) and we were talking about his cow adoptions and my Net Nerds. Later that day, I
had an idea, a Nerd Cow. So I worked on it, and he was the very first to adopt
one. It also proved to be a big hit. The purple and cow Nerds were at that
time the most popular. And so I have been sending Net Nerds out to people all over
the net since then, and it's hard to believe I've been doing it so long. They've
come a long way, many have been adopted and many have been added. And I hope that
everyone likes them!
