Articles

From: Bookie85 Straight Talk by Jeffery Zaslow (this was in a newspaper I read) RINGO STARR After politely answering questions about his old singing group,Ringo Starr issues a challenge. He encourages me to write about him without bringing up any other lads from Liverpool. "That should be an exercise in journalism schools. Try writing about any one of us and don't mention the Beatles." Sorry,Ringo. Can't do it. Yes,he has moved on and is touring this month (May)with his All-Starr-Band,including Peter Frampton. But Starr,56,is wrong when he says,"People are tired of this Beatle stuff." Tired? Not when $1.6 billion in Beatles CDs and merchandise has been sold since 1995. Starr surely knows he'll always be a Beatle to us. Perhaps thats why, whenasked what he learned in the Fab Four,he says,"Know the role you play." He shares touching examples. Growing up as an only child,he longed for brothers. "That was everything I'd wanted ,and suddenly I had three of the buggers." He became the Beatles' "peacemaker" brother. During creative battles,"if there was a neutral corner, that was me." You might not ask for a role in your family or at work,he says, but when it's obvious,"take the responsibility." Starr didn't write the songs, but he bonded the Beatles, emotionally and technically. As a drummer,he says, his role was to know his place."A drummer has a real specifis part toplay:to hold a band together and allow the rest of the band to have freedom." Starr has since found that his most important roles are as a father and grandfather. He saw this clearly during hi '95 tour, which he cut short when his daughter,Lee,had a brain tumor.(Now 26,she's doing well." And what about last year's $224 million offer for a three-man Beatles tour?"To set the record straight,I had dinner with George Harrison just last night and we decided..." Yes?Yes?He beams his all-star smile."We're not getting together." Ontour:He'll sing such hits as Act Naturally,Yellow Submarine, and You're 16. Hear him drum:On Paul McCartneys new release. Favorite Beatle:"It depends on the day, Some days,I'm my own favorite." Family:Second wife is actress Barbera Bach,50. Children from first marriage:Lee,26,Jason,30, and Zak,31,a drummer on tour with The Who. One grandchild:Tatia,11. All-Starr Advice Find ways to cope:When the surviving Beatles completed 2 old John Lennon tracks(Free as a Bird and Real Love),"it was very emotional and difficult. In the '60s,all four of us were'nt in the studio every minute, but we knew the one who wasn't there was coming, [This time],John was not coming." How'd they cope? "We just felt, well,he's gone for a cup of tea. He's done his bit,and we'll do ours." To introduce kids to the Beatles:Try Yellow Submarine and Octopus's Garden. They're the two tracks kids can relate to."Ringo sings lead vocal on both. Stay Sober:"It's been 8 years,23 hours,14minutes,9 seconds."He's kidding about keeping track, but Starr says he's been dry since '89. "I'm more productive now.I'd never have put a band together when I was drunk." Keep your haands on the wheel: Starr won't drum along with the car radio.'Watch the road.Drum later." He sang it;he lives it: " I get by with a lot of help from my friends. The ones you've got, take care of. Friends will save your life." The Beatles The Beatle's are the most popular and accomplished musicians of this century, leaving a musical legacy of great fun, originality, and innovation, The self-taught musicians from Liverpool,England created music that continued to evolve it it's own form and depth-and at the same time to reflect the changing and dynamic world in which they lived. From their begginings as a "skiffle" and dance band playing the music of other composers, to the milestones they created together in Abbey Road Studios, the Fab Four are are a part of the cultural and musical history of the world. From: Fab4luvr my ringo concert experience, a highlight of my life!! THE SCENCE-Pittsburgh PA May 29th 1997 The All stars come running on stage, I say to my sister...Where's Ringo?? I didn't see him at first, then out of the blue he comes running on stage singing. Then she screams THERE HE IS RINGO RINGO RINGO!!!! I will never forget first seeing him come onto stage, there he was a real live Beatle in the flesh 20 feet away from me. I want nuts, I screamed and jumped like a fool, I felt like a shea stadium concert fan...I was heaven. Ringo announced that "This song was written by John Lennon" Then gives 2 peace signs to the sky, the crowd went mad!!!! It started to rain a little and Ringo sang I'm singing in the rain for us, we also got to sing Happy Birthday to the Keyboardist, it was his birthday and they had a cake on stage and everything. I smuggled my camera in and got some shots of Ritchie, it was the best concert, I had a GREAT time! By the end the whole crowd was singing with a little help from my friends along with Ringo....it was excellent! -barb From: LuvBtles13 I've discovered numerous clues in George Harrison's "Bluejay Way" that all 4 Beatles are dead. Not that I believe it but I don't know why nobody picked them up before! or maybe they did and I just haven't read them yet....here goes. In the first part of the song George sings, "Now they've lost themselves instead..." meaning they've died. Also he says "Please don't be long" indicating that he's already dead waiting for them. "For I may be asleep" could mean he's dead. "Now it's past my bed I know" meaning after the deathbed, "and I've really got to go." he needs to die. "I told them where to go.", could mean Heaven or (???) Hell. Trust me I don't believe any of it. just some interesting stuff I picked up. BEATLES FOREVER!!!! --LuvBtles13 From: ThtreGirl Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band(including Peter Frampton, Dick Bruce, and some other guys) This concert was amazing. It was my first time EVER to see a former Beatle in concert. The concert lasted about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Such Beatles hits as Yellow Submarine, I wanna be your man, and the encore; With a Little Help From My Friends. THIS CONCERT WAS AWESOME!! (TO BE CONTINUED) From: Sir Paulee I just saw Ringo and His All Starr Band on sat. may 10th. It was sooooo much fun!!! he sang 5 Beatle songs. they were ACT NATURALLY, BOYS, YELLOW SUBMARINE, I WANNA BE YOUR MAN, and WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS. the rest of the band included Peter Frampton, Jack Bruce, Dave Mason, Simon Kirke, and Gary Brooker. They're pretty good too>Peter also did Norwiegian Wood(This Bird Has Flown) as one of his songs. The concert was at the Riverport Ampetheater in St. Louis MO. and went from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM. and this guy that was sitting about 3 or 4 seats down from us was smoking marijuana joint and made my mom high! She had never had so much fun in her life! From: BArfe I was on line a few days ago and someone said that the Fab three are negotiating a concert deal. Since George is holding out for more money, the performance will probably occur next January or next year. Wow. Am I ever excited. I did not check out my source, but it was on the Beatles Chat room, and the person said that he is in the business but could or would not reveal more. From: Windchild Part of my conversation with Paul: Windchild: Paul? PMcCartVH1: yes! do you have a question? Windchild: How much mail do you get daily? Windchild: So Sir Paul do you like AOL? PMcCartVH1:I am enjoying aol a lot....its fun. Well over night i got 3000 e-mails Windchild: woo Im not famouse but I get about 100 PMcCartVH1: Well its a good start :) Windchild: well it can be good and bad it takes me an hour to check it. Windchild: So what made you not want to eat animals? PMcCartVH1:Well once Linda and I were eating lunch, we had lamb, and it was on a farm. When we saw them walking around all happy like we couldn't imagine them on our plates. Well that is some of what paul and I talked about I hoped you enjoyed. he was a very nice guy and i had a great time talking to him. :) From: Windchild Things about the fab 4 um John lennon and his friend Stu from the earily beatles got beat up and when stu got older he died from head injuries from that fight. Um if you play the noises on the song "a day in the life" it says i want to F*** you like superman Paul was pouplar in school for drawing naked women real well.......but one day his mom went into one of his pockets.......and well you know what happened. From: SWAT GG OK It's here in the LA area, the call letters KGIL, and it is an all-Beatle format, with the solo works as well. Lotta John & Paul ,of course. But the cool thing about it is that at least currently there are NO commercials. They also have a morning show of sorts, a "history lesson" , and Beatle facts throughout the day, AND I am hearing some tracks that are not on the "mass production" albums or the Anthology series. I don't see some of them in Hunter's book either.Well ; just having a Fab4 radio station is too much too cool. As George says, "Happy just to dance with you" ;) LA/SoCal area KGIL AM 1260 From: STARK91357 Paul's b-day in june 18. he also found some old songs that john wrote and he's making a cd and give some of the money to charity From: BtlsRUs

Does anyone ever wonder who the Beatles REALLY are???? Do they where PJ's at night??? Whats their favorite food??? I feel that they, (the press) has only showed us the side of them as Beatles, but not real people-as musicians, but not as people with feelings. I once told someone this and they told me to look between the lines, the lyrics of their songs and I will find the answer to my questions, which is, don't get me wrong, good advice, but I didn't exactly find out what George's favorite food was!!!!! Also, the press treats John and Paul like they are the only members of the group. True that they may have been more musically talent, but that gives them no right to exclude George and Ringo. I JUST WANT TO ASK YOU PEOPLE IF YOU FEEL THE SAME WAY~E-MAIL ME IF YOU DO!!!!!

From: LoveMeDo20 J O H N L E N N O N FOREVER About two days ago I finished reading a book entitled, "The Last Days Of John Lennon" by Frederic Seaman. I highly recomend this book. I am not quite sure of Fred Seamans authenticty, but the book depicts a John Lennon as no one ever Imagined. This book show a sad, lonley, John. How could John Lennon ever be lonley? He would be lonley only unitl his love, Yoko, returned to him. As Frederic Seaman brings John from place to place, no matter how beautiful all he can think about is Yoko in Ny. This book takes you all the way up to the worst day in history, December 8, 1980. What was the house in the Dakotas really like that day? Read this book and find out how cold and hard Yoko was toward John and how John was a poor little teddy bear looking for love.......All you need is love. by: LoveMeDo20@aol.Com From: StrwberyF Things you might not know about the Beatles.... * Helter Skelter was inspired by an article about the Who in Melody Maker. *The name "Apple" was inspired by a Magritte painting which hung in Paul McCartney's Living room. *Paul McCartney's 39th Birthday fell on 18~6~1981, one of the few dates in the century when the numerals remain the same when turned upside down- a fact George Martin pointed out to him. *Linda McCartney's family was originally Epstein, like that of the Beatles Manager, But her father changed it to Eastman. Because she was a photographer, journalists mistakenly believed she was an Eastman/Kodak heiress. *Here, There & Everywhere was inspired by the Beach Boys' song God Only Knows. *Ringo suffered so many serious illnesses as a child that his grand-father gave him the nickname "Lazarus" *John Lennon referred to The Beatles " white" double album as " The son of Sgt. Pepper. * There is only one recorded song on which all four members of The Beatles share songwriting credits- Flying, which was featured in Magical Mystery Tour and on the recording issued as soundtracks. * There is a morse code message on the Strawberry Fields Forvere single which spells out the Letters "J" and "L". - StrwberyF From: HeyJules81 I heard from an anonymous source, that George Harrison's son Dhani is gonna be going to Brown University in Rhode Island. ~ I MET THE BEATLES' CHAUFFEUR!!!!!!~

Okay, people. You will NEVER believe this, but it's true. I have loved the Beatles for a year or so....relentlessly, I might add. I live in a condominium on the beach in Florida. We own two apartments in the building and the man who lives above us has always been our friend. A few months ago, we found out that he was directly affiliated with Mr. Alf Bicknell, former Beatles chauffeur and road manager. Mr. Bicknell had been trying to market a book and video he had made ( if any of you have it, you'll know what I am talking about. If not.....go get it. It's really good.) and he and the man above us teamed up to do it. You could say that the man living above us is ALF's manager. Anyway, my dad is the Chairman of Kiwi airlines and HE needed to advertise for the airlines. So he and the guy above us ( let's call him Jean) struck a deal that would put the Kiwi label on all of the books and videos, and Jean and Alf would get free air-travel hours in return. So one day, while I was staying home with a bad cold, my dad told me that at that very moment, Alf was upstairs with big-time producer Jack Edwards and that he had to go meet with them but afterwards, he would bring them down to meet me. And he did. I don't think that there many people as sweet and as kind as Mr. Alf Bicknell was and is to me. He was very nice and polite and the stories he had to tell for the 2 hours I was with him were enthralling. He was a true insider to the hectic, wonderful Beatles' world. He was with them through their ups, downs, highs, lows. He saw their strengths and their flaws. He befriended them all and is still friends with them ( especially Paul) to this day! He partied with them, toured with them, even sang with them! On the Yellow Submarine track, he is the one making the chain sounds and he is the one saying " Full speed ahead, Mr. Brosnan, full speed ahead!" He was there at Shea Stadium, he was there when they met Elvis, he was there when that doctor slipped LSD into the lads' coffee. Meeting him was one of the best days of my life. And if THAT wasn't enough, I received a package from him later on containing a handwritten letter to me, 3 or 4 original magazines about the Beatles, 4 Beatles portraits, an autographed picture of he and the Beatles ( he sent that to me before-hand.) the Shea Stadium edition of the ORIGINAL Beatles Fan Club, 15 or so pictures, a few or which are rare and/or unpublished, etc. He said that I should not let anyone see those or copy them, and I won't. Sorry guys. But trust is trust and a promise is a promise. So, that was my first experience with a real Beatle-roadie/manager/chaffeur. I will never forget it. I could go on and on about what he told me as he remembered long-lost moments and stories, but I won't. It would take such a very long time. BUT, I was thinking that IF ANY OF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ASK HIM SOMETHING OR TELL HIM SOMETHING OR JUST SAY ANYTHING TO HIM, I would be more than happy to send it to him, and I am sure he would be more than happy to read your thoughts and questions. Let's show Alf what we Beatle-admirers are all about. Let's make this next issue # 7 the best issue ever, and let's dedicate it to Alf. Because if it wasn't for him, the Beatles wouldn't have made their flights, wouldn't have toured, and they wouldn't be as great as they are today. They needed someone to look after them. And I think that Mr. Alf Bicknell was the perfect man for that. So let's show our appreciation and make this issue something to remember. FAB FOUR FOREVER! Love, Arsine (Adktexan) Send your questions and comments for Alf to Meg6212

~ I MIGHT GO TO LIPA~

On a quick, personal note, next summer I might go to LIPA for summer school to study how to make a CD and how to mix tracks, strengthen my voice, learn how to work stages and how to write, produce and stage a musical. The courses I would be taking would be....... CD Rock On, Stagelight, Singing for The Stage, and Musical Theatre Production. You can pick whatever courses you want. These particular ones take up a 5 week period. There and places you can stay, and food vouchers so u don't starve. ( :. There are free Beatle-tours of Liverpool and they say the clubs and markets are really rocking in the summer. At the end of the courses, there is a huge assembly in the Paul McCartney Auditorium where you receive an international summer school certificate and put on a final production of what you have learned. All together, five weeks for me would cost about 3000 pounds or $6000. That includes 3 meals a day, tours, education, and room and board. Not bad. I'm very excited. If any of you are seriously contemplating the arts as I am, and want more information, e-mail me at Adktexan@aol.com. Be glad to help you. Bye! *********This is the end of part one...... please continue reading in the 2nd part.... Thanks********

PAUL INTERVEIW IN "Q"

Recently while in a Border's book store I saw an issues of "Q" magazine with several pictures of Paul on the front cover. Inside there is a 10 page article which includes several other pictures a long interveiw and a reveiw of every album he's played on (Beatles and Solo) I think that if you are interested in reading what Sir Paul has to say you should pick up this months issue of "Q".

Man on the flaming pie It was late and the Liverpool fog horn sounded across the dark harbor and a young English lad was asleep dreaming of his beloved Cynthia. It was late 1958. The world had not seen him or the 60's change the world yet. He would change music and politics, lives and, dreams with his lyrics that echoed through out the stadiums. He was a working class hero, bringing the world his music . Now he is dead, his music is still alive, carying the generations in hope for peace. And on the late night in Liverpool the fog horn sounded and he dreamt. Dreamnt of a man, on a flaming pie who told him "you are Beatles with an A" and with that the world would never look back. _ Zach Tims 5/31/97 is that good? i hope it is in the next issue. take care, meg Love, Zach

From: TintedTeal When my Grandpa was the police chief of NYC, this is really unbelievable, he MET the Beatles. He was at the Shea stadium concert and stood next to the stage to fend off fans. He didn't like their music AT ALL, wich i think is SO funny, because now he can't stop listening to them. Anyway, he taked to the Fab Four for about a half hour, and he liked the boys' sense of humor. I'm so happy to have a relitive who actually TALKED to them, because i wasn't there. (i was born on December 8th, 11:30, 1980. ring a bell?) I just think that is SO neat-o! -tintinator From: NEESE 13 "The literated, sardonic Lennon stood for thinking; Harrison -- deeply immersed in Eastern mysticism -- for intuition; the romantic, androgynously ypretty Paul mcCartney, for feeling; and the clownish Ringo, with his puppy-dog charm, for sensation." It was an article on how the Beatles combined as four people to make one great personality and didn't quite seem whole without each other! I found it interesting, and thought I'd share! Thanks for your time! Peace, Love, and all that nifty stuff Denise From: BBALL245 Here's a spooky clue for "paul's death" : If you look upside-down at the stars on the cover of "Magical Mystery Tour", you supposedly get a phone number. One person supposedly called that number, and was answered by a voice that said, "You're getting closer..." SPOOKY, HUH? Of course, i don't see any phone number. It's all a HOAX! From: Jade324 "Yellow Submarine" was written by Paul to entertain his kids. From: SLS92718 I have a little cool tid-bit (who comes up with those words!!!!) ok well! here's the stroy : (it gets a little complicated) my brother's god-father's daughter(my friend) is best friends with the Rockafeller girls. so anyway. one time she was at their house(in New York) and their mother said that Paul was going to be visiting to help them with guitar. to my friend's surprise, it was Paul McCartney!!!!!! she actaully got to sit with him, and he helped them with guitar. isn't that cool? ~SLS :) From: LuvBtles13 Beatle Memorabilia I went to England last summer, and of course visited all the touristy sites -- the Tower of London, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey (where all the kings and queens have been crowned...oh my god that place is so amazing) and London Bridge. We also went to the British Museum. WOW. The things they have there are incredible..the Rosetta Stone for example. There's this one huge room of old books and manuscripts like the Magna Carta and all...then came the best surprise of my life! There was a little display case of Beatle artifacts. An adorable school-age Paul (which is also in SHOUT!) and baby pics, as well as **and this is the best part** handwritten music lyrics!!!!!!!!!!! The timing was perfect since it was only going to be up for a few months. I stood there the rest of the day practically, singing the songs to myself and drooling over Paul's sort of sloppy but still wonderful handwriting. That was so incredible! Beatles forever! -LuvBtles13 *:-) there ya go, hope you like it! -Sarah :-) From: Olee123456 To: Meg6212 I have a question for anyone in the club who could answer it. On the cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, where is Mohandas Karamchand Ghandi? His name is on the list, and on the drawing with the number code there is a dashed-circle, but on the actual picture only a leaf is there. Thank you, Eddy From: Fab4luvr Thought I'd send you my ringo concert experience, a highlight of my life!! I would just like to take the time to try to write an aritcle that is meaningful to both me and hopefully you. I hope you all try to take the time to read this and think carefully about what I have to say. Being a Beatles fan for the past 15 years of my life, has taught me a lot of things. At first, I had fun reading books full of trivia and important dates in Beatles history. This seems to be the main point of many of the articles that are written in this newspaper and the main point of Beatles chat rooms. People end up arguing over dates and silly things like what the room number of the door was in the room Paul was born in!! I mean, if you really look back at the Beatles as a group, they were only people like u and me, yes they were musical geniouses but they as well as the rest of us are entitled to some privacy. The reason they wrote many of their songs was not so people could argue over the words or what silly things inspired them to write some of the songs, but the reasons were for PEACE and LOVE!!! If everyone would just look at the big picture and realize this, the world would be a better place today. The Beatles could have made much more of a progress in the peace movement if more people would have just stopped to listen. Please!!!! I only wish that more people today would listen to the Beatles and maybe peace will come. Try to inspire those around u to get along with each other. If you are a true Beatles fan, you will help spread the meanings of true peace and happiness to everyone in the world. Please take this article into sincere consideration and speak up. If everyone could make at least one effort a day to stop prejudice and hate, even if it's telling your friends to not make fun of a nerd at your school (or SOMETHING!), we could change the world into a place were everyone could be safe and live peacefully. If anyone has any comments for me, my e-mail is LennonHead@Aol.com. Please feel free to e-mail me and I'll try to respond as soon as possible! Peace & Love, Debra From: BeatlRule1 Paul Is 55 !!!! As Paul would say, " will you still need me when I'm 64?" Paul isn't 64, but he is 55! On June 18th, Paul will celebrate his 55th birthday. If you want more information on Paul, go to the Beatles Forum at: http://members.aol.com/beatlrule1/index.html/ and look at his biography. Paul, all of your fans wish you a VERY GOOD birthday! Good luck!

Why you love the Bealtes

From: Beatlsnut You asked us why we like the Beatles. Well I don't have a reason, really. Who could resist those all around loveable Beatles? But here is my story of how I came to love the Beatles: When I was a baby and wouldn't go to sleep, my dad would bounce me to sleep to the beat of oldies. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, The Beatles, and many other artists. So I grew up always loving oldies and the Beatles. I always liked The Beatles, but when I was younger not quite as much as I do now. My dad would ask, "Who is singing this song?" and I'd easily reply, "The Beatles." My dad bought me this little book about them, and some postcards of them. My dad always gets me postcards of The Beatles, just to have some cool pictures of them. And then my dad watched A Hard Days Night with me. And pretty much from then on I have been one of the biggest fans you could ever imagine. My family all says that we all know about one thing the most. My sister knows about animals, my dad, baseball, my mom, the Atlanta Braves, and me, The Beatles. I have added immensely to my Beatle collection. I have a long shelf at the top of my room all filled with Beatle movies, records, magazines, newspapers, figurines, antiques, books, and much more. I have almost every album, and I have wall hangings and posters. I even made a collage of The Beatles that my dad plans to frame. I absolutely love The Beatles. They have been a big part of my life. And I hope every person at least gets the chance to hear a single song of theirs or see a little part of a movie or interview. The Beatles have meant so much to me and have touched my heart, and I hope everyone gets a chance to feel the same way. ~Sarah~ (Beatlsnut) 13 yrs. old From: Beatles787 Hello, Thank you for the newsletter you sent, It was great. I really loved the poem about John Lennon. Especially the line which went "servant of a hateful world that would not listen". I was sitting at my computer reading it with tears in my eyes. Did one of the members write that? If so they are really talented. Moving on, you said to write to you if you wanted to say why you loved the Beatles or anything else about them. Well I don't really have any intersesting articles , so I will just shortly tell you why I love the Beatles so much. The Beatles mean sooo much to me. Their music is so wonderful, creative and inspiring, which is unlike many other bands today. Through their music they sent messages the country needed to hear, about everything. Most importantly "all you need is love", which is something everybody needs to hear more often. Although I was not born when the Beatles first arrived in THe US, I can still appriciate their music and everything they did to the history of music as we know it. My parents also love them and are so glad I am not listening to music which has swears every other word . I could not live a day without hearing a Beatles song, they are a very important part my life and who I am. From: Sir Paulee The reason I love the Beatles is becaause they're fun and their music's fun. (Plus I think they're cute)>Karen From: Beatles 04 why i love the beatles cuz the music rules From: ecovisio@jetstream.net (Mike Seto) The reason I got into The Beatles...hummm... Well me and some friends went on a little road trip to California, and I live in Canada so this is a LONG trip... Anyway we had a great time, we did everything, but the whole way, to Los Angles and back we listened to Oldies Stations, (because in a fit of exitment my friend stuck her foot in the sterio and busted it) And everytime The Beatles Came on, I knew the words, I couldn't belive it...(my mother listens to them) So I would always look forward to hearing them on the radio, when I got home I had The Beatles stuck in my head, So i thought Screw this I am going to buy a album... I didn't know what one to buy so I bought The Beatles 1967/1970 Album, Then I bought 12 more albums after that... So I guess the reason I love the Beatles is for the memories and the feeling I get when I listen to them, I will never again bug my mother for fliping out everytime she heard them... Brianne Todd
