What About This Site?

You all know that sometimes websites don't appeal to everyone and sometimes they don't get updated as you might like to see, but if you think about it, there are a lot of those sites out   there right now.  So what makes my site any different from the rest?

I love my website, I love designing, & I love being able to talk to many people because of it.  I try to make my site appeal to as many types of people as I can, but I try to keep  a good portion of it "kid safe" simply because of two main reasons.  1- I think it's important for kids to have a place to go on the web that appeals to them which ties into my other reason.  2- I have gotten such a wonderful overall response to what I do with my site for kids from both kids themselves and parents, and I am very pleased with that response.

That brings up my next topic, just why is my site so "kid friendly"?  Am I really a 12 year old who has nothing better to do with her time?  As much as it would be nice to h ave all those extra years in my life to just 'be a kid again', that is not the case.  I have encountered some people who have a problem with me as an older teenager actually caring about kids.  Apparently this is wrong according to them, but then I have to also point out the number of my peers who not only agree, but try to adopt my views about what I put on my site.  I do try to make things for all ages to enjoy, but it's just not possible to please everyone all of the time I suppose.  And because that is the case and because I did create some of my sections when I was just 13, I do chose to leave them up for anyone else to enjoy if they want to, and if someone gets something out of them, then it certainly is worth it.  I have 2 young nieces myself, and I wouldn't want them to come upon a website that had nothing to offer them, I would much rather they   visit a site that does it's best to make itself open to them in at least some aspect.

Now, I'm not saying that ALL sites should throw out their content and make themselves 100% child safe - I just think that on a personal website, such as mine, the webmaster should have the sole choice as to whether or not they have some content for children or not.  But if they do decide to do this, they shouldn't be attacked by other people just because they do not share these views.  There are  so many sites on the web today, why worry about the "too safe" content on one little old personal website?

Another topic that I need to talk about is updates.... I know that my site sometimes lacks greatly in that department, and it's not because I don't care about it & it's not because I want to annoy people - it is simply because I AM a teenager and I don't always have that much time to work on my site.  It doesn't mean it's closing down and it doesn't mean I'm going to stop updating it all together, it just means that I have a life and I'm busy sometimes.  I try to keep everyone updated through my "What's Going On With Meg" section as well as the "What's New" section, but even those sometimes can lack in their updates.  With school going on I do lack a large amount of free time, and the time I do have gets balanced with many other things in addition to adding to my site. It's great for sites to get updated every single day, but when they don't people shouldn't be attacked because of it.  Like I said, some people have a life and it is certainly their right to live it.

I hope you've all enjoyed my little site rant... there will probably be more every once in awhile, this is just a place for me to rant and rave about certain things ( for now just about site stuff )  Hope you enjoyed it or at least got a little laugh out of it.  Until next time!
